
Sales Representative
Basic Function:
To make sales calls to larger construction jobsites, construction offices and industrial sites in the assigned territory to promote our products; demonstrates rentals; and prospect for leads. Will also promote the dealerships' parts, service, rental, and supply items. This position offers unlimited income potential and full benefits package.
Reports To: Branch Manager
Supervises: None.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Authority:
Sales Function:
- Develops relationships, builds confidence and calls on assigned customers regularly to win their business. Secures orders; conducts surveys of assigned territory as directed; locates new prospects and determines prospect needs; plans sales calls; makes presentations; points out the benefits of the equipment; emphasizes the advantages of dealing with Ironhide Equipment Equipment Inc.
- Knows the work going on and to be done, and promotes the entire company including parts, service and rental in the territory. Studies construction job reports to determine where major jobs are; when they will be starting; and who will be the general contractor on the job. Contacts the general contractor by telephone and mail prior to job starting.
- Helps customers solve problems, provides technical assistance as needed.
- Maintains familiarity with new products developed by suppliers. Is knowledgeable and up to date on all the latest information and changes regarding the product line. To do this, all online sales related courses from manufacturers will be completed along with attendance of periodic manufacturer supported offsite schooling, approved by Ironhide Equipment.
- Sees that equipment is correctly delivered and meets all of the conditions of the sale; takes action to render prompt service in case of any deficiencies.
- Records all territory and customer activity, using Telenotes to record the information after each contact on a daily basis.
- Records and reports all wholegoods and equipment leaving and returning to the company locations. This includes each item identification, updated hours and condition.
- Completes the sales process, including appraisals, pictures, Booking form, collecting of funds, completing Sales Checklist and immediate reporting as required by management.
- Keeps management informed of significant developments in the territory including lost orders, competitive activity and market opportunities.
- Assists in keeping the customer and mailing lists up-to-date
- Attends all sales meetings, training, and trade shows, as requested by management.
- Uses company-approved technology and programs to maintain database of customers, and customer calling schedule. Also includes maintaining records of calls; making reports as required; working according to the plan; following up on all leads, contracts, lettings and inquiries; keeps a record of the equipment owned by customers in the territory; as well as controlling travel, telephone, and entertainment expenses.
- Follows company policies and procedures as communicated and required by Branch Managers and company management.
- Asks for help and input of other sales staff and Branch Manager, as needed.
Delivery and Pick-up of Equipment for Demo and Sales Function:
- Responsible for loading, hauling and unloading of equipment and components
- Ensure current knowledge on all applicable laws and regulations regarding hauling
- Maintain current licenses (driver's, registration, insurance, bill of lading, etc.) in the vehicle at all times
- Is responsible for completion and submission of Runzheimer activity and records by program deadlines.
- Ensure all equipment and components are "tied down" to make certain maximum safety exists
- Ensure all company documentation is properly completed and signed as required
- Reports any equipment malfunction to appropriate dealer personnel
- Acquaints the customers with the operation of the equipment as directed
- Maintain and care for shop tools, equipment and vehicles
- Inspects all equipment for proper operation on delivery and pickup
- Operates equipment in a safe and professional manner
- All specialty tools related to use are maintained in a clean and working condition
- Maintains a complete inventory of all tie downs, chains, etc. required for hauling
- Ensures vehicles operate in a safe and effective manner
- Ensures all licensing requirements are met as specified
- Reports any unsafe conditions as they arise
- Maintains current personal license and insurances required by law and company policy.
- Assumes all responsibility for any moving violations and must report them in accordance to DOT regulations. Branch Managers must be notified of all incidents.
- Conforms with random, reasonable suspicion and after incident drug screens, as required by DOT and/or Ironhide Equipment Equipment.
COMPETENCY, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The individual in this position should be personable, a problem solver, reliable, ethical, intelligent and able to adapt to all of the forces around them - customers, suppliers, department employees, co-workers and manufacturer's employees.
Strong background and experience in operating transportation equipment required. Commercial Driver's License required at the discretion of the company.

Physical Requirements: Heavy
- Driving commercial motor vehicle, not limited to getting into and out of vehicle; as well as loading and unloading equipment from trailer(s).
- Ability to obtain medical card on a bi-annual basis including the DOT's physical requirements on vision, blood pressure, and diabetes.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate construction equipment.
- Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 50-100 pounds and/or frequently lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 20-50 pounds and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 10-20 pounds
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp or pull and lift objects. Occasionally required to sit, climb and balance, kneel, stoop, couch, and crawl.
